Is It Time To Say Goodbye Already?

The silence was menacing
There was a disharmony in the lost words
The air between them was already tensed
It was as if they had turned their backs already

The one confession changed it all
The one sentence took it all away from them

The pain lingered in his eyes
But she wasn’t bothered already

The trust had built up in several years
Yet it was broken so easily
But still the complains left unspoken
As if she had decided not to forgive already

He didn’t try to stop her
She walked out of her own accord
As if somewhere she had accepted it
Or else had she forgotten him already?

As if the memories all a blur now
As if the time meant nothing to her anymore
As if he was just around as an acquaintance
As if his presence didn’t bother her already

He couldn’t take it
Not being at the receiving end of her anger and disappointment
He knew she would be furious at him
But she had moved on already

So he went on to tell her
Tell her the truth as it was
But although he was right, she stood unmoved
She had walked out of his life already

She had set out on a path
One that she had chosen for herself
She knew she had taken a difficult step
But she knew he was sincere already

She couldn’t forgive him so easily
Not punish him for her tears
So now she’d walk on her chosen path
But she was weak already

He regretted all he had done
He cried the entire night
The pillow got wet with his tears
He was taken down by guilt already

For being the cause of all that happened
For not hanging in there
For he saw her walk away never to return
Because, he missed her already….
